Dear Mother,
As the world suddenly rejoices and starts traveling ✈️ – many seem to forget or put behind what happened last few years. We forgot that it was us, the homo-sapiens that created the pandemic. Many have long erased the warning that the biggest & final pandemic will be the Climate crisis. 😞
Also today, the humans (yes, only us) that destroyed all parts of your Planet are still on their knees begging to a tiny strain of invisible DNA they called COVID-19. 🙏 Praying that no more new variants will emerge again! We’re into the 3rd year and still at the mercy of pharmaceutical companies to create more powerful vaccines & many versions of boosters that we need to take for the rest of our life, so said the experts.
Before that tiny strain of virus was born, no one ever believed or dream that the economic growth engine can be shut down. GDP growth is all we care about. Now GDP recovery & securing their political position are the only priorities for all leaders. Heros with the power & influence to fight for you are far & few. 😭
Since 2020, human went thru lockdown after lockdown, curfews & more curfews. Air & many travels related industries came almost to a complete shutdown. Population was at its lowest, but … 😵
Those of us who cared & protected your land thought that you had a good break from all the lockdowns. Smogs & air pollution dropped to lowest ever, animals roamed freely in the cities, for the first time never seen since humans came to Earth. Mount Everest can be seen from far away capital city of Kathmandu!
But all these were so short-lived. The situation got even worst:
1) Oceans already suffering from plastics (Plastic-dam-it) are now choked with tonnes of masks & plastic protective wear. 🤬😡
2) Increased poaching due to the collapse of tourism that funds conservation & protection of endangered species
3) Islands seldom visited by residents are overloaded with trash + the ecosystem harmed by increasing local tourists, for example, the southern islands of Singapore.
4) CO2 had only a short dip but shot up even higher from more intense forest & bush fires.
5) Oil that runs the world creates more pollution, and now special thanks to a stupid war!
6) Pristine forests never before having regular, intense and brutal fire, amazon has become a net carbon emitter.
7) Coldest places on Earth recorded the hottest temperature in history, permafrosts are thawing releasing more Methane
𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒐𝒘? 𝑺𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 – 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒕? 𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏 & 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔? Haven’t we suffered & learned enough?
